The "Verein Freunde des Schlosses Reinbek e.V." (Society of the Friends of Schloss Reinbek) was founded in 1977 when the restoration of Schloss Reinbek began. The non-profit-making society with its members from the town of Reinbek and surroundings, aims to develop and enhance the intensive use of Schloss Reinbek as a centre for culture and communication.

 

With its approx. 800 members, the society is one of the largest in the region. Since its foundation, the society has actively helped to bring "life into the castle": many outstanding events such as "Jugend musiziert", "Opernstars von morgen", literature and music events as well as the "Harfen-Matineé" were not only initiated but also financially supported by the society. Numerous fixtures and different technical equipment worth more than 160.000 € have been purchased by the society for Schloss Reinbek.
