Immediately after the building of the castle (1576), Duke Adolf of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf had gardens designed arround the castle. They provided supplies for the kitchen as well as pleasure. At a later point in time, the gardens were redesigned as a park.
If you walk around the castle’s park you will see the many exuberant treetops, the colourful leaves in the autumn and the beautiful reflections of the
trees in the lake. There are winter, summer and Hungarian silver lime as well as a variety of oak trees.
The member of the Freunde des Schlosses Reinbek e.V. have had the most precious trees listed by experts in order to provide information to those
particularly interested in the unusual variety of trees.
The park offers a relaxing setting for open-air events, art exhibitions as well as for breaks during conferences or other events.
